Character Name: Anakin Skywalker
Journal: [personal profile] sandhate
Canon: Star Wars
Canon Point: Right after Anaxes (Star Wars: The Clone Wars – "Unfinished Business")
Species: Human
Age: 22

History: WIKI LINK

Personality:
Anakin is an awfully honest man. He despises deception and lies, even if it was for the greater good. The act is equivalent to betrayal to him, and it takes time for him to understand why it is necessary though he would never approve of it. Example being when Obi-Wan fakes his death; Anakin’s reaction was anger, fueled by his sense of betrayal by someone whom he sees as family. He would always take the honest, straight forward route. Putting him through an act of deception makes him struggle with it, and ultimately, he would more likely forfeit that route and say whoops than continue it. The exception to this is Padme, his wife. His love for her overwhelms his struggles with deception and his want for being a Jedi keeps him in it. He is an uncomplicated, and at times unwilling to see more to it than the black and white he is given and knows.

While being a Jedi is all that he dreamed of, his passion and the intensity of emotions that he feels makes him an example in the Order as what not to do. He has strong attachments, a path the Jedi do not and should not walk, for it places one's selfish desire above the Force and that is a path of misery. He angers and rages easy, but he loves just as hard and deep. Though his fear makes him less likely to open up to someone, when he does, he places an inappropriate amount of attachment to them. He cares for his people, his troops, the people he fights for and he would go beyond to help them if he can. Regardless of what his Jedi upbringing teaches. This attachment and loyalty makes him at odds with the Jedi Masters.

Placing too much attachment to people and things is forbidden; the Jedi must be focused on serving the good and willing to understand what is the will of the Force. Their loyalty is to the Order first. Anakin however is not loyal to any grand concepts and abstractions such as peace, the Order or even the Senate. Anakin is loyal to people; they are Padme, Obi-wan, Ahsoka, and Palpatine. Being taken away from his mother as a child made him yearn for the love that was then missing from his life as a Jedi. Anakin wants to be loved and does so by reaching out and helping everyone he can, promising himself that next time he'll save everyone. Yet he’s afraid to be vulnerable because it would mean being vulnerable to hurt and loss. Despite the good he can and does do, that fear of it keeps him isolated from people and surrounded by droids; those he can mend, people he cannot.

Despite being the “Hero with No Fear”, Anakin harbours many fears surrounding loss. It inspires another: the fear of being not good enough to keep those he love from suffering, from dying. These are things that Anakin has struggled with his whole life. No matter how many times Anakin have encountered it, accepting and understanding death and loss has been and always will be a struggle. Being taken from slavery to a position of power makes it even worst. Having actionable power yet being unable to do anything makes him feel like a slave again. All the fears can compound and transformer into anger, the feeling of injustice and before it comes to vengeful hate. He often refuses to look deeper into the Force and connect with it because of the visions and sense he feels from it, from himself. For this reason, he is kept from the status of Master even though his talents and skills are easily that of one.

He is super arrogant. He is the Chosen One, the fastest and strongest Jedi of his generation, a master in his style of saber dueling, unbelievably strong in the Force, his midi-chlorian count is so off the roof that he got special permission to join the Jedi Order and skip his Padawan trials. He has both boldness and grace and luck. Many of his Padawan courses were boring and easy to him because he excelled at them. Even into the Clone Wars, he was on level with many Masters and the danger involved made him reckless, surviving them made him bold and cocky. Here is a thing that he does well. He puts a lot of pride in what he does, who he is and how he does it. It doesn’t matter that it isn’t necessarily approved of but he recognizes that there are times when what needs to be done can’t be according to the rules and restrictions of the Jedi. His views the Jedi rules and restrictions more like guidelines and on the field, he would do what is right and he will break those rules to get what needs to be done done. Yoda calls it his spontaneity, and it is this and his boldness and willfulness that marks him as exceptional (good or bad) to the Jedi Order.

Having Ahsoka as his Padawan made him reflect on his behaviour. He sees the recklessness he pass on to his Padawan and he is more likely to be hesitant to take the same risks as he did before Ahsoka came to be his Padawan. You could say he is wiser, more reflective and understanding of his former Master’s teachings now that he has to teach himself. Unfortunately, she leaves and everything goes bad.

He also has a complicated relationship with his former Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, that influenced a lot of his impudence, defiance of the Order. Although he loves his Master a lot as his father figure and later brother, Kenobi is strict and adheres to the rules, often lecturing and reprimanding Anakin for not being the same. Anakin knows that Kenobi cares for him but he refuses to offer the love that Anakin looks for, and it planted the seed of distrust and hate for the Order and pushed him to someone who would offer it - Palpatine.

Anakin Skywalker has many contractions within him. In the grand scheme of the Star Wars saga, he is both the light and the dark. His willfulness and compassion makes him the most effective and resolute Jedi generals in the Grand Republic’s Army. He has saved thousands and planets. Yet the same willfulness makes him impulsive and selfish; he would willingly stay blind to the bigger picture, willing to win smaller battles and risking the failure of the greater war. His love and compassion makes him endearing, kind and good. But the same love cause his eventual downfall. Ultimately, Anakin cannot find the balance and cannot find peace within himself. The same quality makes it so he can and will tip the scale of good and evil from one side to another.

Powers & Abilities:

Lightsaber Dueling
Anakin is skilled in many lightsaber forms. Like all Padawans, he was trained in Form III (Soresu) which his Master was the master of. He is also trained in Form VI (Niman) to build his skillset to include dual lightsabers. Later in life, he trained and studied Form V (Djem So) and eventually mastering the form of dueling. It is an aggressive form, aimed at using strength to dominate the opponent.

Mechanic
Ever since he was a boy, he has had an aptitude for mechanics. He had worked in a workshop owned by his former slaver master, Watto and boasted that he could fix anything. He built his own podracer and protocol droid at the age of 9. As an adult, he fixed his prosthetic arm to enchanced touch and feel, and to look more like a real arm. He also often tinkered with his starfighter and droids, including R2D2 and C3PO.

Pilot
Stardestroyers, podracers, starfighters, freight ships, elegent transport ships - you name it and he can fly it. Though an exceptionally skilled pilot, most of his landings are crash landings. Most of his landings are ridiculous and unbelievably lucky. Anakin uses the Force to push sharp turns to its limit, to fly faster and hyperspace jumps as close as possible.

Force Sensitivity
Like all Force users, he is capable of basic Force talents. And like all Jedi Knights, he is trained to hone his use and understanding of the Force. Force sensing enables him to do many things:
Precognition/Visions: Precognition allows him to see a small glimpse of future events like predicting his opponent's movements and sensing imminent danger for himself and those he is feels the presence of. He is also able to receive visions of a potential future further down the line. He can meditate deeply to get it as well. This also extends to seeing beyond and/or using the Force to see more than what’s there; behind walls, around corners.

Telepathy: this is a very light take on direct mental communication; for him, he can only glimpse the general idea of what the other individual is trying to say. The stronger the emotional attachment/relationship between him and the other the easier/more clear thIs form of communication is. This also works if the other individual has a strong intent or is emitting strong emotions. He can also pick up what a person might be feeling (anger, sadness and fear).

Force telekinesis: This includes speeding up and jumping incredible heights (three stories in one jump at most), pushing and pulling objects and people, and of course throwing and lifting them as well.

Mind trick: A trained Jedi is able to manipulate a person with a weak mind and their thoughts; think of it like Inception that happens without anyone falling asleep. This manipulation could lead him to persuade a course of action, induce fear and cause someone to see things that aren’t there.

Misc: His right arm, dominate arm, got cut off. He has a prosthetic arm made of durasteel; it comes with its own power cell and everything!
